English certifications you can achieve in Malta

Want to get an international certification?

Learn to recognize the certifications you can achieve by studying in Malta.

No Malta School issues a "certification", they all issue certificates of attendance certifying your initial level and final level, the course and the number lessons you have attended. Certification is obtained only by examination.
The exams are ALWAYS executed in centers outside the schools, just in a few cases and for some certifications, 3 schools in Malta "grant" their buildings to the certification body, but this is only for the use of the environments. For example, the IELTS certification exams take place at the Malta Chamber of Commerce. Each certification has a score that corresponds to the level of English proficiency. The institution or company that requires the certification may need a certain score, so, before studying for a certification exam, make certain which will be the score at which you aspire: this will affect the number of weeks of preparation and type of preparation.
Remember that ALL public bodies tend not to consider valid the certifications that are older than 2 years: this does not mean that certifications "expire". It simply means that an ielts 7.5 certification obtained at 18 years may have no value presented to an institution 8 years later, or a FCE Cambridge certification obtained in 2014 may have no value in 2018.
Each certification CERTIFIES THE KNOWLEDGE LEVEL AT THE TIME OF THE PERFORMANCE, therefore if your level improves, it will be counterproductive to present a certification attesting a lower level. Vice versa, after years of non-English practice, the level inevitably gets worse: this is the reason why certifications obtained years before the presentation have almost no value.
